The mixer is excellent for silage slurry mixing, also reduces odour through aerobic activity by minimizing septic conditions and anaerobic activity. The coarse bubble aeration results in a reduction of BOD & COD by introducing oxygen into the slurry/sludge and eliminates anaerobic activity.
The STEM Drive unit will reduce the Biological Oxygen Demand through the coarse bubble aerobic transfer properties of the mixer.
Biogas, Stem drive Mixers can be powered by Biogas compressors and installed within Primary Digesters. Biogas is recycled through the mixers to facilitate the digestion process and production of biogas.
The STEM Drive unit maintains solids in suspension prevents build up of sedimentary material including grit on the bottom of the digester and prevents crusts forming on top of the sludge volume.
By recycling Biogas digesters retain efficiency, One 100mm nb Mixer powered by a Biogas compressor producing 60cfm @ 1.5bar pressure can turn over 1100 m³ of sludge per hour.
As in other sewage sludge mixing processes Stem drive units within digesters can be programmed to mix sequentially, particularly for large diameter vessels.
Biosolids, The Stem Drive system is ideal for handling biosolids and residuals management
Belt thickening, The STEM Drive mixer will deliver a homogenous mix to the belt thickening plant, thereby eliminating the variable feed consistency normally associated with this process and increasing efficiency of the plant.
The STEM Drive unit will reduce the Chemical Oxygen Demand through the coarse bubble aerobic transfer properties of the mixer.
Continuous use , The STEM Drive unit, due to its unique construction, is a non-blocking, no maintenance device.
Cap Buster, Crust Buster, The Stem drive units prevent crusts forming on top of the sludge volume.
Within detention tanks mixers are installed close to storm pump sumps, to prevent grit settlement around scavenger pumps.
Digestor, Primary and Secondary, See “Biogas”
Digester, Primary and Secondary, See “Biogas”
Stem drive air mixing systems reduce odor problems. Stem drive systems represent low lifetime operating costs by fully optimizing plant resources.
Efficient, One 100nb unit will turn over 1100 m³ of sludge per hour. One power source can serve any number of tanks/mixers through the unique STEM Drive system of programmable sequencing.
Easy to install , The Stem drive mixer can be installed into live sewage sludge mixing and holding storage tanks.
Effective mixing results can be seen immediately power is switched on. Short-mixing periods reduce cost.
The STEM Drive mixer creates a rotating “shaft” of fluidized material.
The Stem drive system is fast and easy to install without penetrating tank side-walls. As mixing units are fitted on the base of the tank all material within the tank is fully mixed.
The Hi-lift STEM Drive unit will flush fine materials such as grit, silt and sand from a tank bottom and keep them in suspension.
The Stem drive mixer can be installed into live sewage sludge mixing and holding storage tanks.
Health and Safety , There are no moving parts in the mixing unit. Once the mixers are installed they need never be touched again, eliminating tank entry problems and manual handling issues.
Simply turn on the power and effective mixing starts immediately.
Installation is quick and easy. There is no need to empty the tank to install the units, i.e. “live” tank installation is an option.
Industrial Sludge, Stem Drive units are in operation within oil sludge lagoons
The STEM Drive unit leaves traditional submerged pump jet mixer technology firmly in the last century. No moving parts and no maintenance within the tank.
The STEM Drive mixing system can kill odor by eliminating the anaerobic conditions which cause malodor production.
By installing a STEM Drive unit in the Bio Gas collection of landfill sites and recycle biogas through the unit, this will encourage anaerobic activity.
Lagoon Mixing . Mixers can be placed in large lagoons to mix, rough aerate or break up cap/crust.
There is no limit to the number of units or size of lagoon.
Lime Slurry – Ph adjustment
The STEM Drive unit, due to its unique construction, is a non-blocking, no maintenance device. Stem drive systems represent low lifetime operating costs by fully optimizing plant resources.Power unit installed external to tank permitting maintenance in a clean area.
Multiple tanks air mixing systems available using single power source.
Mixer, The STEM Drive unit, due to its unique construction, is a non-blocking, no maintenance device.
The Stem Drive mixer has no moving parts.
No breakdowns. The only maintenance required on the system is the serving of the compressor in line with the manufacturer’s recommendations.
No limit to the size of Tanks, Lagoons, Digesters, to be mixed.
Mixer reduces odour through reduction of anaerobic activity.
Oily Sludge, Stem Drive units are in operation within oil sludge lagoons
By the addition of hydrated lime to Waste water liquor the PH value can be adjusted to acceptable levels, this allows the liquor to be acceptable for landfill injection in some areas of the UK

Rough aeration , The STEM Drive Mixer introduces air into the media being mixed in the form of coarse bubble aeration.
Reception Tanks, See “Holding Tanks”
Residuals Management, The Stem Drive system is ideal for handling biosolids.
Ragging, The Stem Drive unit does not become blocked by rags, bags or other biosolids.
Stem drive mixers can be manufactured in the following sizes from 15mm to 150mm, the 100mm unit being the most widely used.
Safe to operate , There are no moving parts in the mixing unit. Once the mixers are installed they need never be touched again, eliminating tank entry problems and manual handling issues.
Short mixing time reduces cost
Stainless steel . All mixers are manufactured in stainless steel.
Self-cleaning properties, The mixer unit has inherent self cleaning properties through flow reversal.
Sump clearance of grit deposits , The STEM Drive Mixer will re-suspend any grit deposits or build of material prior to operation of the scavenger or sump pumps. Units are in operation within detention tanks (UIDs) throughout United Utilities area
Stratification, The Stem Drive system eliminates stratification in sludge holding tanks.
Sewage and Sewage Treatment Works,
Sludge thickening, See “Belt Thickening”, The Stem drive mixing system creates a homogenous mix consistently and with decanting will allow a far thicker product to be processed or tankered.

Slurry spreading can be assisted using STEM Drive In-line Mixer within the umbilical. The unit fluidizes the slurry within the umbilical hose thus making it easer to pump slurry faster, and at greater distances.
UID Program, See “Detention Tanks”, The Stem Drive unit will maintain the scavenger pump sump clear of grit and silt
The Stem Drive mixing systems are installed within; Reception tanks, Primary Digesters, Secondary Digesters. Thickening tanks, Reception tanks, Detention tanks, Retentions tanks, Storm tanks and Lagoons,
The STEM Drive mixer will fulfill all your needs within your Sewage treatment works, from reception tanks, through to final sludge drying pressing or centrifuge
